Profanity was sent to Apple for review 9 days ago — we rated it 17+.
Today we got this form Apple:
Dear App Go Lucky,
Thank you for submitting Profanity to the App Store. We’ve reviewed Profanity and determined that we cannot post this version of your iPhone application to the App Store because it contains objectionable content and is in violation of Section 3.3.12 from the iPhone SDK Agreement which states:
“Applications must not contain any obscene, pornographic, offensive or defamatory content or materials of any kind (text, graphics, images, photographs, etc.), or other content or materials that in Apple’s reasonable judgement may be found objectionable by iPhone or iPod touch users.”
Examples of the objectionable material are attached.
If you believe that you can make the necessary changes so that Profanity does not violate the iPhone SDK Agreement, we encourage you to do so and resubmit it for review.
Regards,
iPhone Developer Program
This begs the question — what the fuc*ing b*ll c*** b*st*rd s*it a*se is the point of a rating system?
Apple has become much more “liberal” since the release of 3.0 and prenatal controls.
My advice is, give you App the highest 17+ rating to start once it’s approved you can start a dialogue with the review team and try to get it down to 12+ or similar.
As far as the words go, you should be fine. Apple don’t like words or phrases that can be construed and racist or defamatory to groups, totally undependable and acceptable IMHO.
How did you get around this?
I currently have an app in review, which contains sound clips with f**k and c**t in them. Is a 17+ rating not going to help that get through? I’d just be interested to know which profanities offended Apple!
Surely if Apple are serious about making their iphones suitable for small children then they should remove their safari web browser immediately. Have you seen some of the things on the internet?!!!!! They have naked ladies and everything.
